Cold Noses, the Times-Union’s weekly pet column, features dogs and cats available for adoption at government-run animal shelters.

Many shelters remain closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, but some allow adoptions and care by appointment. Contact individual animal shelters for more information.

Thea is a 3-year-old mix of Bulldog and Jack Russell Terrier (ID No. A038178). She is bossy and loves to run around the playground telling all her dog friends what to do during playtime. She gets along well with dogs, but not with cattle, chickens, or cats. She has heartworms and needs to remain calm until treatment is complete. Clay County Animals friends are sponsoring the treatment.
