Cantina Louie opened its newest restaurant specializing in Mexican street food in the Regency neighborhood of Jacksonville on Monday.
The restaurant at 1040 Hospitality Lane on Monument Road near Interstate 295 in the Shoppes at Monument is the company’s ninth restaurant, said owner Benjamin “Ben” Porter.
“This is our third new location in the last six months,” he said. “Given the current restaurant climate, this speaks very strongly for the overall Cantina Louie brand.”
Porter said he chose the Regency location because he liked the proximity to I-295.
“That will allow us to pull south from both the north side and all of the growth along 295,” he said. “I also felt that the Fort Caroline and Monument Road areas were very underserved.”

The menu features various freshly made Mexican street food favorites such as fajitas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas, sopes, tostadas, tortas, shrimp ceviche, street corn and tamales.
Customer favorites like surf-and-turf beef and shrimp tacos are high on the menu, along with starters like SoCal Avacado Chicken and Carnitas, and desserts like sopapillas and flan.
A fully stocked bar offers craft cocktails, beer, sangria, a wide selection of tequila and various margaritas specialties.
“All of our locations work exactly the same way with the same specialty drinks and menu,” said Porter. “I want customers to know they are getting the same great customer experience whether they are in Asheville, NC or Daytona Beach.”
Cantina Louie was founded in 2014 and is based on the principle of offering products of the highest quality in an atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion.
Porter said the restaurant stands out from the competition “because our customer service and ambience are some of the best in the Southeast, not just the Jacksonville area.”
