JACKSONVILLE, Florida – We are less than 24 hours from a historic night for our city.
The Jags have the top pick that many believe will be Clemson’s standout, Trevor Lawrence.
Acosta Bridge rocks the purple and orange on the eve of the NFL draft. The hope is to welcome quarterback Lawrence into the Jags family.
Die-hard Jags fan Eric Dillard says the team hasn’t been this excited in years.
“We haven’t played a soccer game this year and I would say the hype is the same as in 2017.”
And a big reason for the hype is Trevor Lawrence.
“With Trevor, the future is limitless where we can go, Super Bowls and MVPs. I don’t understand why we can’t reach these peaks, ”says Dillard.
There are 7,000 fans traveling to TIAA Bank Field for a sold out draft night party. But no matter where you see it, Dillard says, “The design is going to be insane.”
And Dillard thinks Lawrence is a perfect fit.
“I think his philanthropy, what he likes to do outside of football, is going to be huge.”
He knows firsthand the impact Lawrence has already had on the city.
What started as a tweet about buying a toaster from Lawrence and his new wife from their wedding list became a toaster for charity.
“In total, nearly $ 55,000 goes to local charities in one simple tweet.”
K9s for Warriors and Five Star Veterans Center feed Northeast Florida and are the local charities that receive this money.
