Federal vaccination centers in the Jacksonville area close early Saturday and open late Sunday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All federal government-sponsored COVID-19 vaccination centers in the Jacksonville area will be closed at 3 p.m. on Saturday due to severe weather and will not reopen until 10 a.m. on Sunday

These include the Gateway Mall HUB on Norwood Avenue, the Oceanway Community Center on Sago Avenue West, and the Carver Recreation Center on 5th Avenue South in Jacksonville Beach.

A spokesman said the decision was made because “the safety of guests and staff is a priority”.

Only Johnson & Johnson single vaccines are currently available on the Gateway Mall website. The satellite locations and the Gateway Mall location will dispense second doses of the Pfizer vaccine for those who received their first doses in those locations before April 5.

Those who have appointments for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine and have been unable to come before 10 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday can come at any time on Sunday without rescheduling. No appointment is required.
