Free Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner in the Jacksonville Area – Action News Jax

NORTHEAST FLORIDA – Churches and organizations in the Jacksonville area are providing free groceries to families in need before Thanksgiving.

Action News Jax has compiled a list of food giveaways below:

Saturday November 21st

  • Feeding Northeast Florida and Winn Dixie team up to serve Christmas dinner at Lonnie Miller Park (7689 Price Lane) starting at 10 a.m.
  • Bold City Church and volunteers will be handing out over 1,500 gift certificates for a free turkey (or ham) from Walmart to families in the following neighborhoods: Monaco Arms, Oceanway Manor, Polly Town and more between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • Deermeadows Church at 9780 Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville will be serving free food from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food and other items are placed in the trunk of cars.
  • The Clara White Mission will be serving a pre-Thanksgiving lunch to families from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at 613 Ashley Street.
  • The First Baptist Church of Middleburg is giving away Thanksgiving dinner to the first 1,000 families to arrive on campus at noon. Each meal includes a 10 to 12 pound turkey, green beans, turkey filling, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a pumpkin pie. The church is located at 2645 Blanding Boulevard in Clay County.
  • Jacksonville’s Mayor’s Community Based Crime Reduction Program is hosting its Community Impact Day from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at 1401 Grunthal Street on the Edward Waters College campus. Free Thanksgiving baskets will be distributed to attendees while supplies last. The COVID-19 security guidelines are followed.
  • The Sanctuary on Mt. Calvary, located at 2360 Kings Road in Jacksonville, will distribute turkeys from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Sunday November 22nd

  • The Glorious Bethlehem Temple will be giving out first come, first served gift cards and turkeys starting at noon at 2051 Ashland Street in Jacksonville.

Monday 23 November

  • Pendas law firm will be serving one turkey per family to those in need from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in their office on 3250 Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville. Participants must wear a mask and social distance. The turkeys are served according to the “first come, first served” principle.

Tuesday, November 24th

  • Jewish Family and Community Services will be providing groceries and gift cards for turkey purchase before the holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Max Block Food Pantry at 6261 Dupont Station Court East in Jacksonville.

Wednesday November 25th

  • Jewish Family and Community Services will be providing groceries and gift cards for turkey purchases before the holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Max Block Food Pantry at 6261 Dupont Station Court East in Jacksonville.
