May 15 – Next Saturday, Jacksonville Town Square will be filled with the uplifting sounds of gospel music, as well as food, crafts, and other Christian activities.
Organizer Lonnie McCarthy said the event will benefit Samaritan’s Purse, an evangelical Christian organization that provides spiritual and physical help to people around the world.
McCarthy said The Connells and Clear Vision will be hosting the event along with many local talent.
There will be face painting for the children and as an added bonus the children will be evangelized, according to McCarthy.
McCarthy said that when the color red is applied to a child’s face it represents the blood of Jesus. According to McCarthy, the children also receive a leather strip with colored beads depicting various biblical themes.
“This is a fun activity that serves the kids and maybe plant a seed, you just never know,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy said over 20 vendors will be attending, offering “really good food” and handicrafts.
The sellers are asked for a donation at the end of the day to go towards the Samaritan’s wallet.
