In broad daylight, a person was discovered shot a number of occasions on Jacksonville Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s office is investigating after a man was found shot dead on a street on the west side on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lt. J. Eason officers were called to the scene on Cassat Avenue near Clarendon Road at around 4 p.m. He said the sheriff’s office received several calls related to the shooting.

A neighbor told News4Jax that he heard at least eight gunshots.

The man has been described as between 30 and 40 years old. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition by the Jacksonville Fire Department.

Eason said witnesses were arrested for questioning and police searched the area to find a surveillance video. It is unclear what led to the shootings.

The victim has not been identified and no arrest has been announced. Anyone with information was asked to contact the police.
