Jacksonville FL – On Friday, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp announced that they had officially accepted the invitation to become a Triple-A Partner for the Miami Marlins from the 2021 season. The team says it’s a 10-year agreement between the two sides and it’s the first time Jacksonville has had a triple-A baseball team since 1968.
Ken Babby, owner and CEO of Jumbo Shrimp, says this is a big announcement for the team.
“As we step into this new era of minor league baseball, the familiarity of continuing our longstanding partnership with the Miami Marlins, whose players, coaches and staff have long loved the city of Jacksonville and northeast Florida, is so exciting. We look forward to building this relationship as the Marlins Triple A Partner for many years to come. “Babby says.
We reported in early December when the team was originally invited to become a Triple A partner.
We learned that the Triple A schedule for 2021 will be released soon.
For 2021, we’re up against Charlotte (White Sox), Durham (Tampa Bay), Gwinnett (Atlanta), Memphis (St. Louis), Nashville (Milwaukee) and Norfolk (Baltimore).
