While it wasn’t easy, Community Health Outreach (CHO) had to step it up. Around 700 families are supplied with food every week.

“Our mission is to feed those who are hungry. Dress up those in need and provide medical and dental care for the uninsured, ”said Charles Green. He is the Food Pantry Manager who oversees the deliveries.

CHO has served parishioners since 1988. In 2002, CHO secured the status of a non-profit company, supported by donors, churches and civic organizations.

But in 2020 it threw a curveball.

“I wouldn’t even fantasize a dream that was happening now,” said Stevie A. Taylor Sr., chairman of the board of directors of CHO. “But the good thing is that we were an oasis of help and hope for many families.”

Chioma Odusola comes to the non-profit organization weekly to get clothes and formula for her children. She said she would be lost without the service.

“Sometimes you don’t really make a lot of money and when you come here they kind of help,” said Odusola.

The big thing that the non-profit association needs right now: more volunteers. You can sign up to help by clicking HERE.

The pantry is open on Mondays (only for seniors), Wednesdays and Saturdays. It starts at 9:00 a.m. Baby Luv is open from 10 a.m. on the same days. The medical and dental clinic are by appointment only.
