JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As we near Mother’s Day many of you think of the perfect gift for that special person in your life.
But several Jacksonville nonprofits are working to bring a smile to those who may not get anything on this special day.
A fundraising campaign led by Movers for Moms benefits hundreds of brave mothers who have been abused or have become homeless and are currently staying at Hubbard House and the Betty Griffin Center.
This week, not only will they be putting together care packages for mothers for Mother’s Day, but they will also be collecting items like canned food and other necessities.
So far, they have collected 17,000 items and Winn-Dixie donated 1,400 pounds of food that will provide 1,200 meals for the shelter.
Anyone wishing to donate can go to 5126 Timuquana Road from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on May 5th.
