Jacksonville police arrested July homicide

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 21-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection with a July murder in northwest Jacksonville.

Kadeem Perry Woodard of Jacksonville, identified as a Person of Interest, was already in custody in Duval County Jail on other charges when he was charged with second degree murder on new charges, according to prison records.

Woodard was arrested last month for, among other things, possession of a gun by a criminal and breaking into an apartment.

Police, responding to a report of gunfire on Avenue B near Brooklyn Road, on the night of July 19, found a large crowd at the bottom of hundreds of people dispersing as officers arrived. The 24-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound but died three days later.

Police arrested Kadeem Woodard on December 21 in connection with a fatal shooting in July.

Other than the age of the victim, no information about his identity or any possible motive was released.
