With the assistance of the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Highway Patrol, Jacksonville FBI agents arrested Bradley Weeks of Macclenny on January 21 for his role in the January 6th events at the US Capitol.
Weeks are being charged in the US District Court in Jacksonville with knowingly stepping into or staying in a restricted building or site without legal authority. forced entry; and disorderly behavior for the sake of the Capitol, according to an FBI press release.
“The arrest of Bradley Weeks is another example of the FBI’s commitment to holding accountable those who attempt to incite violence or devastate our established institutions. In the coming days, the Jacksonville FBI will not waver in our efforts to coordinate with local, state and federal partners and find justice for the acts committed in the US Capitol, ”said Rachel Rojas, FBI special agent in charge in Jacksonville the press release.
A factual statement filed with the criminal complaint in the U.S. District Court for Columbia District shows that the FBI received tips from several informants that Weeks posted a video on his Facebook page of the invasion of him and others in the Capitol.
After receiving a copy of the video, the agents discovered that “The video appeared to have been shot by WEEKS from the Capitol’s Upper West Terrace. The first shot looks at the crowd on the Capitol lawn. WECHEN then turns the camera and shows the plane on which he is standing. It catches people standing on a nearby balustrade and a person who is also filming in the direction of the lawn, ”the fact sheet says.
The document also includes a transcript of a statement by Weeks about the video:
“We have reached the steps. We had to climb a scaffold. We had to climb ladders. We had to break things to get through, but we got through. We got through and will retake the Capitol! We take our country back. This is our 1776! Here it will happen! Here tyranny will fall! America will rise here! Look at this America! Look at that!”
Rojas said the FBI is urging the public to send tips on anyone who instigated or promoted violence of any kind in Washington DC on Jan. 6 to (800) CALL-FBI or www.fbi.gov/US Capitol.
