Man arrested in Jacksonville bank robbery on charges of attempted murder of an officer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man alleged by Jacksonville police to rob a bank, fled the scene in a stolen car and crashed into a pickup truck faces numerous charges, including the attempted murder of a police officer.

Court documents identify the man as Dontravious Adair, 21. He is also charged with armed robbery, shooting at a car, evading police and car theft.

On Wednesday, the day of the bank robbery, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office announced that an armed man walked into the bank, brandished a gun and asked for money before picking up in a car that had been reported stolen earlier that day.

Police said officers started tracking the vehicle and the driver fired a gun. The sheriff’s office said the driver then crashed into a pickup truck and injured a young girl and her grandfather.


As of Friday, Adair has been detained in Duval County Prison without ties.
