Man expected to recover after shooting in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is in the hospital recovering from a shooting on the west side on Thursday evening.

At around 10:25 p.m., officials at the Jacksonville Heights Apartments at 8050 103rd St. responded to multiple gunshots.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they said they found a trail of blood on the sidewalk and handed out many cartridges in the area. Officers say they also spotted two parked cars and some nearby homes that were hit by bullets.

JSO was notified that a grown man was taken to a nearby medical facility with at least three gunshot wounds to his leg. According to the medical staff, the gunshot wounds are not currently considered life-threatening.

Police say their initial investigations lead them to believe that two groups of people shot each other.

The person who was shot said she was in the Jacksonville Heights apartment complex at the time of the shooting but did not provide any details about the incident or was driving him to the medical facility.

No other injuries have been reported and the Violent Crimes Division of the Sheriff’s Office is following the investigation.
