Man killed in single car accident in Jacksonville Southside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man died early Friday morning after his SUV left the street and hit a parked vehicle, utility pole and tree on Forest Boulevard on Beach Boulevard near Packard Drive.

A traffic homicide detective for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the Ford Excursion was driving south on Forrest Road around 2 a.m. at the time. JSO found that there is a fork in the road where the crash happened.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The police are investigating whether the man at the wheel fell asleep or whether it was drugs and alcohol.

A person at the scene who identified himself as the victim’s brother said the man was on his way home from work.
