Old Dominion defeated Jacksonville 4-3 in Columbia Regional

Kenny Levari and Kyle Battle each had two RBIs on Friday night, and Old Dominion beat Jacksonville 4-3 in a Columbia Regional Opener.

The Monarchs (43-14) face the regional host and runner-up South Carolina on Saturday. The No. 4 of the regional seeded Dolphins (16-33) will meet the No. 3 seeded Virginia in a loser-out game on Saturday.

Battle scored a goal with two runs in the first inning of Levari’s homerun and added a double run in the second, which topped the game’s score.

Jacksonville had three runs on four hits in the first inning and forced a pitching change after Jesus Pacheco’s leadoff single in the second. Jacob Gomez (6-1) came out relieved and gave up a hit over 4 2/3 goalless innings. Noah Dean had his ninth parade of the season.

Tyler Santana (5-8) gave up five hits in eight innings in complete game loss for Jacksonville. After the second inning, he gave up a hit.
