Downtown Square in Jacksonville will be filled with the sound of golden oldies, happy chatter, and some exhaust when the Downtown Spring Car Show returns on Saturday.
Joel Buchanan of Morton Avenue Misfits says the cars will be pulling in early for a great, fun show for everyone the club is hoping for.
“Hopefully it will be fun for the whole community, but especially for anyone with a classic, or cool, or bespoke vehicle. You can come out and join us for the show we have downtown from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. It is open to all vehicle models. It’s a judged show, so there is a $ fifteen entry fee. We have a few different grocery vendors on the go, as well as a few other vendors setting up.
Then on Saturday evening we have the cruise along Morton and it will have its headquarters at Hardee again. Participation in the cruise is free. It’s open to everyone and we hope the community will come out and join us. “
Buchanan says the club is more than ready for this year’s show after last year’s record breaking show almost didn’t happen due to the pandemic.
“We were able to do it last year after a few months of delay to sort everything out. But this year we have a lot of people nibbling on coming out and looking at the cars or dusting their car, bringing it out and showing it off. So as long as the weather cooperates, we should have a lot of participation.
This is the twenty-fifth year for the Downtown show, which we took over from Tom Winner about five years ago, and this is the seventh year for the summer cruise. “
There are no costs for participating in the event. Registration for the show’s attendees begins at 8 a.m. at a price of $ 15.00.
Buchanan says event t-shirts have returned due to popular demand and will be available for sale at the show while supplies last. The Spring Cruise departs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Morton Avenue from Main Street to Lincoln Avenue.
