Stylish home wares from decorative brands in black ownership – Free Press of Jacksonville

Before the pandemic that could imagine spending months indoors, separated from friends, family and culture, restaurants and entertainment. With all the losses and limitations the outbreak caused, I can think of an advantage. Many of us re-evaluate our living spaces and redesign them to reflect balance, creativity, comfort and taste. I fell in love with the interior even more. And everyone I know seems to be in the middle of a project. Here are some of my favorite black-owned home decor brands. They offer pieces in a variety of price ranges to outfit any stylish hideaway.

Furniture, carpets, accents

Souk Bohemian offers earthy and textured carpets, candles, drinking art and much more. The meaningful candle holders and vases form subtle yet breathtaking visual elements. Most small decorative pieces, like the modernist marble candle holder ($ 45), drop below $ 75. (SoukBohemian.com)

While Lenny Kravtiz is known for his sexy rock star style and throaty singing, he has had a calm influence in the interior design world for years. A few years ago Kravitz Design and CB2 launched a range of contemporary, minimalist rugs, chairs, consoles and other decorations. My eye wandered to affordable pieces like the 18-inch dream pillow in warm neutrals, $ 40. (CB2.com)

Tabletop

There is something special about dining at a nicely laid table. Estelle Colored Glass, created by Stephanie Summerson Hall, sells glasses and stemmed glasses with wonderfully unexpected color stories. Combine lavender, mint green, rose, blush pink, cobalt blue and much more. Those looking for something special will appreciate that some of the stemmed glasses are hand blown to a generous 16 ounces by glass artisans. Under $ 200 for a set of six. (EstelleColoredGlass.com)

Effortless Composition, founded by Brittiny Terry, offers versatile goods with an artistic-bohemian flair. The embossed stoneware plate sets are a perfect accent for the dining room and range from $ 11 for the smaller size to $ 14 for plates. (EffortlessComposition.com)

dishes

Many of us try recipes that we would never have had a chance to before the pandemic. One thing I’ve learned from trying to repeat my favorite dishes in the restaurant is that I need more than just a trustworthy pan, saucepan, and oversized spoon! Karibe offers a range of quality cookware and utensil options that are too stylish to be kept in a drawer, like an asymmetrical black walnut chopping board for $ 36. (KaribeCompany.com)

Wall art

If you want a statement for a focal point or gallery wall, consider Simone Agoussoye’s iconic portraits with Obamas, Malcolm X, MLK, Aaliyah, Kobe Bryant, and other historians in sparkling materials like crushed glass. While original work comes with the price tags expected on an investment property, the site also offers prints, canvases, and posters in sizes from small to oversized for $ 10 to $ 200. For the luxury lover, interior designer Yannette Lerbrun from YL Designz Art Studio creates original multimedia wall art and coasters that resemble oversized gemstones and geodes. Imagine jewelry for your wall and functional gemstones for your drinks. The prismatic wall art made from birch wood, broken glass, resin, glitter, and Swarovski crystals costs about $ 600 for a one-off 24 x 30 inch piece. I also noticed a set of six handmade coasters in an icy winter floral design for $ 75. (YLDesignz.com/art-studio)

Art brings a home to life and gives it personality. Sareka Unique has original paintings on canvas that contain vibrant floral and abstract patterns that only make me smile. I especially like the Night & Day piece, $ 400. (SarekaUnique.com)

Bed linen

The B. Smith decor line was designed and founded by the late model, restaurateur and lifestyle guru and offers minimalist, textured window treatments and premium bedding. The Junouesque Comforter is filled with 100 percent white duck down and features a timeless jacquard design made from ultra-luxurious cotton with a thread count of 300 for $ 514. (Macys.com)
