Suspect discovered not responsible of insanity in Jacksonville Seashore capturing

A man arrested after a Jacksonville Beach police officer was wounded in a shootout in 2018 was convicted of insanity last month, court records show.

Jovan Sisljagic was charged with four attempted murders following the Beach Boulevard shooting in August 2018. Sisljagic was treated for three gunshot wounds.

In addition to Cpl. When William Eierman was shot dead, gunfire hit two police vehicles and several cars in a parking lot at the Waffle House.

Sisljagic was declared non-criminal in 2019. Officials said he had a history of mental health problems.
