The 7-year-old was seriously injured when the car was half parked in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 7-year-old is in critical condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, after the vehicle he was traveling in hit a parked trailer truck on Wednesday morning.

According to the FHP report, a 31-year-old man and a 7-year-old were driving from Monument Road in a Buick Regal to the entrance to Interstate 295 when the car “for unknown reasons” hit a truck near the ramp at around 2pm : Parked at 30 o’clock

Neither the driver of the car nor the tractor-trailer were injured. The boy, who was not wearing a seat belt according to the FHP, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries.

News4Jax asked FHP if investigators believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash and if the location of the articulated truck was a legal place to park.
