The Jacksonville Day by day Information 2020-21 all-area volleyball crew

The Daily News All-Area volleyball team is elected by the newspaper’s coaches and sports staff.

Julianna Erickson, Jacksonville: The senior is Area Player of the Year and Coastal 3-A Conference Player of the Year after leading the Cardinals to an 11-2 overall record and a 9-1 mark in league play, which was good enough to earn a share of the title in the regular season at West Carteret. It is Jacksonville’s third straight season crown. Erickson also helped JHS win the conference tournament title for the second straight season.

Erickson, who recently signed for Averett University, finished the game with 203 kills, 51 blocks, 48 ​​aces and 39 digs.

Abigail Young, Jacksonville: The senior was just as important to Jacksonville as she ended up with 146 assists, 47 kills, 38 aces and 21 digs en route to the All-Coastal Conference team.

Ryleigh Whitekettle, Dixon: The senior, who signed with NCAA Division I Houston earlier in the season, ended up with 160 kills, 116 digs, 24 aces, 10 assists and seven blocks en route to becoming the Coastal 8 1-A / 2-A Conference player Year and helping the Bulldogs finish 8-3 overall.

Shelby Waltrip, Croatian: The senior finished the tournament with 202 assists, 75 digs, 48 ​​kills and 25 aces to help the Cougars win 13-1, their third straight title at the Coastal 8 1-A / 2-A Conference Win 11-0 and advance to the third round of the NCHSAA 2-A playoffs.

It was named All-Conference and All-Area for the second time in a row.

Cammie Davis, Croatian: The sophomore went all-area for the second straight year and was also all-conference after recording 137 digs, 30 aces and 20 assists and six kills.

Maddie Simpson, East Duplin: The senior was named All-Area for the third year in a row and was also called up to the All-East Central 2-A Conference team after ending up with 105 kills, 60 digs, 37 aces and 12 blocks to make the Panthers one 10-4 lead overall grade and a 9-3 ECC record.

Ava Hall, East Duplin: The senior was also All-ECC after registering 125 assists, 39 digs and 18 kills.

Emily Leanes, White Oak: The senior made the All-Area for the second year in a row and was named All-Conference by the Coastal 3-A Conference after finishing 6-6 overall for the Vikings with 132 assists, 76 digs, 34 kills and 29 aces .

Alyssa Lay, White Oak: The senior was also All-Coastal 3-A Conference after finishing with 119 kills, 94 digs, and 23 aces.

Kimmie Ross, Swansboro: The senior went all-area for the second year in a row and was named All-Conference by the Coastal 3-A after finishing with 104 assists, 92 digs, 26 aces and 22 kills.

Juliette Desmarais, Richlands: The senior was named All-Conference by Coastal 8 after ending up with 144 digs, 44 kills, 37 assists and 35 aces.

Mallory Foy, Richlands: The junior ended with 116 kills, 42 digs and 32 aces.
