The Jacksonville pastor was arrested on charges of molesting a child

53-year-old Rafael Cuevas is charged with two sexual assaults and six lewd and lascivious molestations against a victim under the age of 12.

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – A Jacksonville pastor was arrested for multiple sexual misconduct.

Rafael Cuevas, 53, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two sexual assaults and six lewd and lascivious molestations against a victim under the age of 12.

According to the arrest report, authorities received reports that Cuevas had molested a child for four years, with the last incident in June 2020 and the first in 2017.

Investigators found that the victim was under 12 years old during the four years of alleged abuse. The child told detectives that Cuevas would harass them four to five times a week, the arrest report said.

The child told authorities that the abuse took place in multiple locations, including the church where Cuevas was pastor and in his truck, the arrest report said.

During the investigation, a second child spoke to detectives and reported that Cuevas also harassed her several times.

Investigators tried to speak to Cuevas, but he declined to be interviewed.

Cuevas is currently being held in prison without any ties.
