The not-for-profit grocery retailer opens in northwest Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A new grocery store opened in northwest Jacksonville to ensure families have access to fresh, healthy food.

The Overflow Health Alliance opened Making Ends Meat along Moncrief Road this month.

“Research has shown that there hasn’t been a place for people to eat in this community for over 25 years. They said, ‘Well, we’re going to do something about it,” said Howard King-Lafayette, grocery manager’s manager Took a while, but we’re here now and we’re here to stay. “

According to King-Lafayette, members of the organization can shop for free in-store. It offers fresh produce, meat, snacks, milk and a variety of other foods. The shop also has a tasting station.

“While you shop, you can stop by and have a snack and see how it tastes,” explained King-Lafayette. “We also give them ideas on how to fix healthy products with plantains, pineapples, smoothies and healthy products.”

The store opened on February 6th at 4220 Moncrief Road.

“It was great; it was great,” said King-Lafayette of the community reaction. “Everyone who walks in says, ‘You are a blessing. Thanks for coming.'”
