Two arrested after theft of the Jacksonville Meals Lion

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WNCT) – Jacksonville police arrested two people after a food lion was robbed Monday.

Police responded to a report of a robbery at 9:45 p.m. to the Food Lion at 861 Piney Green Road. Officials said the suspect left the store in a vehicle after asking to put $ 2,000 in a bag that he presented to an employee.

After further investigation, an officer stopped the vehicle and two people were arrested:

Benjamin Freer, 41, Wilmington, NC
$ 23,000 bond

Fees: Common law attempted robbery, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, driving while license is withdrawn

Gillian Cunningham, 45, Wilmington, NC
$ 20,000 bond

Fees: Wake County Warrant Service, purchase of property through false pretense, possession of stolen property, conspiracy of crime
