New restaurants continue to open at the Atlantic North Shopping Center near Kernan and Atlantic Boulevards in Jacksonville. Whataburger will be the newest addition.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The proposed 14-screen Cinemark cinema at the Atlantic North Shopping Center in East Arlington continues to attract new businesses. The newest addition seems to be Whataburger. A sign was posted in the center last week saying the burger chain was “coming soon”.
Whataburger offers future moviegoers another place to eat before or after a movie. Other options have opened up in recent months, including Another Broken Egg Café, Fancy Sushi, and The Baker’s Son from Valerio’s, a Filipino bakery.
Most of the new Cinemark theater building is being built while the crews work on it on a daily basis. The planned opening date is spring 2022, according to Samantha Ashcraft, Marketing Director of Sleiman Enterprises, the owners of the mall.
Atlantic North is anchored by Belk’s, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and LA Fitness. Earth Fare, a specialty grocer, closed its doors in 2019. Ashcraft said Sleiman is speaking to several larger retailers to take up more space there. “Hopefully we can announce something soon,” she said.
