The service for Willie Truitt, 86, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Opelika, AL, will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL 36801, Pastor Mattie Clark, instead of officiating.

Ms. Truitt, who died Thursday, February 18, 2021 at her Jacksonville, FL home, was born on December 2, 1934 in Lee County, Alabama.

The public inspection of Ms. Truitt will take place on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

She leaves to keep her memories: four children, Andrea Gaffney Ferguson, Bernadine Gaffney, both from Opelika, AL, Michael (Carol) Gaffney and Bryan Keith (Katina) Billingslea, both from Jacksonville, AL; one granddaughter as daughter, LaShawnya Gaffney from Opelika, AL; six grandchildren, Cedric (Monica) Gaffney, Sr., Calvin (Tomonika) Ferguson, Jr., Lamar Gaffney, Nekia Gaffney, Tedd Gaffney, and Kisha (Tamir) Gaffney-Shabazz; a sister, Lucille (Larry) Menifield of Opelika, AL; two brothers, Gilbert Dooley and Marvin Dooley, both from Opelika, AL; a variety of great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a variety of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

CDC recommends that people in public facilities near people outside their household wear fabric face covers, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
