Jacksonville, FL. – Update 1:15 a.m .: Around 9:30 p.m., a woman was involved in a crash on Beach Boulevard.
Police say the woman pointed a gun at the people in the other vehicle.
At this point she did not pull the trigger.
JSO says she then ran to the Sam’s Club parking lot where she pointed a gun at people in a food truck.
I didn’t pull the trigger back then.
The woman then went to the entrance of Sam’s Club, which was closed, and fired rounds into the shop.
Then she climbed through the broken glass and broke into the shop.
Police say she ran around and started firing the gun.
The employees were in business at the time.
When they realized it was gunfire, they ran out.
Police say the suspect never contacted the staff while they were in the store.
The suspect went through a side door.
When the police arrived, they dropped the gun and were taken into custody.
She was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
JSO is unsure if the injuries occurred during the fall or when she climbed through the glass door.
The police have no idea why this woman was raging.
No one else was hurt.
She will face numerous charges.
Update 11.45 p.m.: Another evidence technician has just arrived.
Update 11.34 p.m.: A crime scene car appeared within the last 10 minutes. Action News Jax Christy Turner can also see an officer at the main entrance and the doors appear open. Still no word from JSO about the reason for the activity.
Update 11:23 p.m.: The officials have turned the carts so that the people can sit down on the tape of the crime scene. A nice gesture. Looks like they’ll be here for a while.
Update 11:09 p.m.: Two patrol cars leave, but there are still several officers on site.
Update 11:05 p.m.: More than a dozen patrol cars. Action News Jax Christy Turner checked the store’s opening hours and saw that Sam’s Club was closing at 8 p.m. It appears that some employees, and possibly some customers, are on the crime scene tape. No real sense of urgency so the police seem to have the scene safe.
